About Halji village

With about 426 inhabitants, Halji is the most populous village in Limi VDC of Humla district in the north western corner of Nepal. The village is situated at an altitude of 3650 metres on the northern banks of the Limi River, a tributary to the Karnali merging with the Ganges further south. The houses in the village are clustered around the eleventh century Rinchenling monastery, one of the oldest Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in Nepal and a potential World Heritage Site.
